Although the almond shape form is of the Persian origin, the name ‘Paisley’ derives from Scottish town, once the centre for textiles, where the paisley designs were produced. It was a popular design to be used as a protective charm to ward off demons. It has been a popular motif in fashion for centuries. The hippies used it in the ’60s and ’70s.
